Walleye Spawning Table.
Weight Table

MEDIUM DEPTH RESERVOIRS.

These man made lakes are located in hilly areas. They have medium depth, clarity and temperature compared to shallow and deep man made lakes.

Walleye will usually spawn in the in flowing streams and rivers after the spring rains warms the water. They will spawn in riffles and rapids. If streams and rivers are not suitable for the walleye they will spawn on gravel and rubble shore lines, embankments near bridges and causeways and dam facings. Walleye will spawn at night in the streams and rivers. If there are pockets in the river or streams the walleye will stay here during the day.

When spawning is completed the males will stay for about two weeks near the spawning grounds. The females leave almost right away. Walleyes will feed along timber flats near the old river bed. After two of three weeks the walleye will move to the main lake. If there is deep water near by the walleye may stay here through the winter.

In the summer the walleye can be found near rubble and rocky areas in fifteen to thirty feet of water. As some reservoir's surface temperatures may get very warm, the walleye can find comfort zones in the thermocline.

In the fall the water is lowered to make room for spring run off. The walleye will move to the old river bed to find the deep water they need.
