Flasher V.S. Fish Finder

Which is better? Some people swear on each one and for their own reasons. I have tried both and have come to this conclusion. COLD!

Cold weather separates the flasher from the liquid crystal display hands down. If you are in a heated shack then I find that they will both show fish and your lure which is critical for precise presentation.

Take note of the straight line on the graph at the 26.5 foot depth. This is the lure. At the bottom of the graph on the left is a jagged, bumpy line that starts to lift on the right. This is a fish on the bottom starting to come up.

The lure represented on the vexilar FL-18 is is seen at 9 o'clock. The lure is the green and yellow lights. At approx. 6 o'clock is the fish banded in orange and red then next the bottom of the structure.

I see many people fish with out electronics and that's fine. But since I have started using them, electronics have made fishless days into fish days. You can judge fish activity and the type of presentation for the time. You know if you are fishing useless water or water where fish are. With electronics it is no longer a guessing game of where the fish are.

As in the words of a well know guide "You can say the fishing is slow all you want to but somebody on the lake always catches fish somewhere"
